Youghal Tide Clock.

Youghal Tide Clock.

Youghal ( Eochaill, meaning “yew wood”) is a seaside resort town in County Cork, Ireland. Located on the estuary of the River Blackwater, the town is a former militarily and economic center. Located on the edge of a steep riverbank, the town has a long and narrow layout.

According to Geoffrey Keating (Seathrún Céitinn), in late March 830 there was a “great convulsion of nature” in the province of Munster. This changed the flow of the River Blackwater moving its mouth from Whiting Bay and forming the harbour of Youghal. 1,010 people were lost by a fierce storm when the sea broke its banks.Soon afterwards in 853 a detachment from the Norman invasion built a fortress in Youghal and laid the foundation of a commercial seaport.

“We received the tide clock this week and it is so fantastic, so beautiful! We love it. We just hit high tide on a full moon 5 min ago and I set it! Thank you thank you thank you and hope you are all doing well. I also was very excited to get a package from Ireland. That was half the fun!”

“ I just received the tide clock that I ordered today, and I just wanted to say thank you! The service was so prompt, and the clock is amazing. It was great to find a gift for my husband who is very hard to buy for! He and my eldest daughter love to go fishing in the summer, so this will be very useful. Thanks again! .”
